life drawing examples
Oddly enough, it was not a requirement in the visual arts program at the university I attended to take a life drawing course. I didn't draw the human figure from life until a few years after school. The first life drawing session I attended was held at the art studio of my boyfriend (now husband). The model sat on a stool in the corner and there was a very strong light source. I remember not knowing what to expect. I was more anxious than nervous. Once the session started, the quiet focus in the room was amazing and I fed off the energy of the other artists. To this day, I still get lost in the experience of drawing from life and I feel that same exhilaration and excitement that I did that very first time I drew a model. This is a sampling of my drawings from life over the past few years.
